Whose side are Radio Scotland on?

No matter how reluctantly Radio Scotland provides a lifeline for thousands of Celtic supporters.

Up until the play-off round it’s unlikely that there will be any live television coverage of the home Champions League qualifiers involving Brendan Rodgers’ side.

In that case with their vast resources compared to commercial operators Celtic supporters have to turn to Radio Scotland to follow their club’s progress.

Fortunately we are spared the insight of Barry Ferguson (EBT) , Alex Rae (EBT), Billy Dodds (EBT), Derek Ferguson and Steven Thompson (EBT) but on the microphone for the Rosenborg was Liam McLeod who likes to portray himself as an Aberdeen supporter.

For reasons that are easy to understand McLeod didn’t seem pleased by Odsonne Edouard’s equaliser against Rosenborg.

Various online sources have quoted the man from the state broadcaster reacting to the goal as ‘A SAVAGE BLOW FOR ROSENBORG’.

Perhaps the BBC get a secret subsidy from Norway?

McLeod’s attitude is typical of many at BBC Scotland who cover Celtic through gritted teeth, who discuss the need for greater competition in the Scottish game when they really want another club to enjoy the success of the hoops squad.

Next week the BBC will be sending their usual bloated team of commentators, analysts, experts, technicians and assorted others to Rosenborg for the return match, perhaps they might show a little interest in the success of the Scottish champions.
