Kean Bryan has snubbed a three year contract with Sevco.

The Manchester City starlet has a year to run on his Etihad deal and was viewed as the ideal solution to Sevco’s defensive problems.

Steven Gerrard had gone public on his need to bring in a left-sided central defender but failed to convince Bryan to join his Revolution.

Initially it was reported that Bryan had failed an Ibrox medical but after today’s win over Wigan at Ibrox the new Sevco boss went off message.

Unfortunately we couldn’t get an agreement with Kean,” Gerrard told The Sun. “He wants to keep his options open and we respect that.

You can see quite clearly today that we need a centre-back so that is definitely an area that we are trying to add in.

Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later. I need a centre half and a striker.

Am I hopeful before Sunday? I hope it is tomorrow. I am in a rush.”

It was reported that Bryan was about to sign a three year contract worth around £2.5m but that figure was probably heavily tied to bonus payments.

Last season he played 37 matches on loan at Oldham Athletic and is expected to move to a Championship club this season after turning down the chance to work with Gerrard.

The new Ibrox boss refused to discuss the £200,000 bid for Kyle Lafferty, earlier this summer Sevco were linked with Fernando Torres and Jermain Defoe.
