Blackburn Rovers are the latest club to be linked with John McGinn.

According to a report in the Daily Record the English side are ‘mulling over’ putting in a bid for the Hibs midfielder.

Celtic remain the only club to have put a bid on the table for McGinn but Rod Petrie is determined not to see the Scotland internationalist return to Easter Road in a Celtic shirt.

On Friday Sky Sports claimed that Brighton were in talks to sign McGinn but that prospect appears to have gone cold.

This week Petrie is tasked with trying to sell his side’s best player on the eve of an important European match or wake up on Friday morning with Celtic as the only club interested in McGinn.

On Thursday the English transfer window closes with no sign that Celtic are prepared to put in a fourth bid when there are no other offers in front of the Hibs board.

Neil Lennon has admitted that it is inevitable that Hibs will lose the midfielder, the earlier that a deal is done the more time the Irishman has to bring in replacements.
