Dedryck Boyata’s agents held face to face talks with Celtic yesterday.

A week after turning up unannounced at Lennoxtown demanding a meeting with Brendan Rodgers Jacques Lichtenstein was summoned to a meeting with club officials.

Finding the easiest way of moving the player out before the end of the month was top of the agenda according to a report in The Sun.

Representatives of the Belgium World Cup star were invited into Parkhead for a face-to-face meeting with key members of the club board.

SunSport understands the discussions were conducted amicably with both parties looking for a way to end their ugly stand-off.

Last week Celtic turned down a £9m bid from Fulham for the defender which sent relations between the club and player into free-fall.

Brendan Rodgers made that decision expecting Boyata to be available to play against Hearts and AEK Athens.

Things changed dramatically on Friday when the former Manchester City defender failed to turn up for training- but Lichtenstein did appear at Lennoxtown.

With Celtic losing to Hearts and AEK Athens it’s clear that Boyata won’t play again for Celtic with a transfer abroad a priority for all sides to bring the situation to a speedy conclusion.
