Celtic have been linked with a move for Douglas Luiz.

According to a report in The Sun the Manchester City midfielder could be heading up the M74 after failing to get a work permit with the English side.

Celtic would be more likely to pick up a work permit for the young Brazilian, Sevco were given a work permit for Roma ‘striker’ Umar Sadiq, which would allow Luiz to gain experience of British football.

Luiz had been expected to sign a loan deal with Benfica but that deal as stalled leaving City looking for other options.

Last season the 20-year-old was on loan at Girona but after being restricted to starting one match and making 14 substitute appearances it’s unlikely that he will return to the Spanish side.

Celtic are down to Scott Brown, Olivier Ntcham and Eboue Kouassi as their midfield options after selling Stuart Armstrong and losing out on John McGinn.

City and Celtic have a long history of doing deals with Daniel Arzani the most recent deal with the young Australian moving to Celtic on a two year loan.
