Harald Moukoudi has rejected the chance to join Aston Villa.
The defender flew in for talks on Thursday but has returned to Le Havre and informed the club that he won’t be moving to England.
Celtic were linked with Moukoudi at the weekend but appear to have solved their need for a new central defender with the loan deal for Filip Benkovic.
With a year left on his contract Le Havre are desperate to cash in rather than lose out on a transfer fee next summer.
Some reports have suggested that Lyon are keen to sign the defender but it looks like time might be running out on a move.
Celtic have been linked with a number of defenders during the transfer window against a background of uncertainty over the future of Dedryck Boyata.
Sevilla and Valencia have both been linked with the Belgian defender but it’s unlikely that a deal could go through even though Benkovic has joined Celtic from Leicester.
The English transfer window closed at 5pm.
UPDATE: Villa also had a £6m bid for Scott McKenna rejected by Aberdeen.
