Dermot Desmond is set to call Peter Lawwell and Brendan Rodgers together.

The news comes from the well connected Stephen McGowan in the Daily Mail who is acknowledged as the reporter closest to the inner workings of Celtic.

The development will be welcomed by supporters appalled at the developments of the last ten days which appears to show a club fighting in different directions.

The Mail reports:

When the cracked crests appear on the back pages, it’s Celtic’s Mister Big who turns up with a gold-plated Pritt Stick.

And, with a weary sigh, the Irish billionaire must now see that it’s that time again.

Time to pick up the phone, summon Rodgers and chief executive Peter Lawwell to a Dublin summit and bang some heads together.

Rodgers went public with his frustrations at the lack of transfer activity while at the same time a cyber army of internet activists have been highlighting problems with recruitment especially in defence around the impact, or otherwise, of Jack Hendry and Marvin Compper.

The fall-out has been partially responsible for Celtic falling out of the Champions League, missing out on a £40m jackpot and the knock on benefits throughout the club.

Rodgers has the backing of the vast majority of supporters who have witnessed how he has transformed the club in two seasons even if some of his signings have failed to strike gold.

The credit side for the manager is overwhelming with a Dublin summit at Desmond’s request something that most fans will welcome- with the outcome eagerly anticipated.
