On Christmas Day 2017 after opening their presents Celtic fans were told that a deal had been agreed with Brighton for the transfer of Moussa Dembele.

Later on in the day the story was reigned in a little, the two clubs were involved ‘in talks’ something that was denied by Chris Hughton and Brendan Rodgers.
Today it seems that a similar scenario is unfolding with John McGinn.
This morning Sky Sports ran with the story that Brighton were in talks with Hibs for the midfielder.
That story was quickly picked up by other publishers just as ‘Sorry, we could not find the page you were looking for’ appeared on the Sky Sports site.
Brighton will be well aware of McGinn, every club in England will know about a current Scotland internationalist into the final year of his contract.
They’ll also know of Celtic’s interest with at least two bids turned down for the grandson of a former Celtic chairman.
How interested Brighton are remains unclear, interested enough to make a bid now or thinking over a pre-contract offer in January.
