Levein hits back at Sutton

Image for Levein hits back at Sutton

Craig Levein has hit back at Chris Sutton claiming that Kyle Lafferty was a nutter and time bomb!

The Hearts striker was the subject of a £200,000 bid from Sevco last week which was quickly turned down.

Since rejecting that Ibrox offer the Irishman has been the centre of attention with the usual stuff published about a dream move to his boyhood heroes.

It seems that a couple of goals against Celtic and some caps for Northern Ireland have transformed the image of Lafferty with Sutton adding some reality to the transfer tale.

Since walking away from Rangers (IL) IN 2012 Lafferty has played for seven clubs ranging from Palermo to Sion with his off field antics ensuring that he is quickly moved on.

Responding to Sutton’s comments Levein told The Sun: “I’m sure Chris will regret that. I think it was just a little bit silly. I don’t want to get involved much more, other than to say that.

Chris is a decent guy and I’m sure he maybe regrets saying that. My view is that, when he looks at it again, he will think it was a wee bit silly to get involved.

Since Kyle has been here, I’ve had a brilliant relationship with him. His professionalism has been there and he was good when he came on last Sunday and was unlucky not to get a couple of goals.”

Lafferty is expected to be on the bench for Hearts in their SPFL opener away to Hamilton Accies.
