David Murray has finally been named in the Rangers tax scandal.

Dozens of much loved former Ibrox stars including Barry Ferguson, Billy Dodds, Neil McCann, Kris Boyd, Alex Rae and Steven Thompson are facing financial ruin as they finally pay the price for the medals won during their time with Rangers (IL).

This morning The Sun pictures Murray with Alex McLeish as they reveal that Her Majesty is looking for £32m from the men that brought such glory to the deceased football club.

Faced with a bigger and stronger Celtic Murray reverted to tax scams to compete with the hoops for trophies, a charge that the Edinburgh based businessman admitted to during Craig Whyte’s trial in 2017.

Players were recruited to Rangers with a token contract going through the books, and registered with the SFA and SPL, while Murray piled ‘tax free’ dosh into so called Employee Benefit Trusts.

In July 2017 the Supreme Court ruled that Her Majesty was due income tax, national insurance, penalties and interest on the disguised remuneration which in most cases will work out at a similar sum to the total paid to the players and coaches.

Scotland boss McLeish is staring at a £1.7m liability while Ferguson will have to stump up £2.5m.

None of the former Rangers (IL) players have ever blamed Murray for their tax issues with any blame pointed at Her Majesty for having an agenda against the cluB.

Celtic lost out on five SPL titles due to the financially doped Ibrox club which collected prize money and automatic entry to the Champions League group stage through illegal tax scams on ineligible players.

When Craig Whyte took over from Murray in May 2011 so-called EBT payments were ended.
