Rod Petrie’s determination not to deal with Celtic has reached a new peak.

Two days before a Europa League tie against Molde John McGinn has been sent to Birmingham to have talks with Aston Villa despite the two clubs NOT agreeing a fee for the midfielder.

While Neil Lennon works on set-pieces and preparations for the game against the Norwegian side his most important player is being hawked down south.

Celtic have had three bids rejected for McGinn who is in the final year of his contract.

While Hibs and Villa might strike a deal for the midfielder ultimately any decision will rest with McGinn.

Neil Lennon is a realist and will want to maximise the fee for the Scotland internationalist in order to bring in replacements.

If Villa fail to come up with deals agreeable to all parties the Hibs boss will have the task of trying to lift the player for the match against Molde knowing that Petrie is desperate to cash in on his transfer.
