Huddersfield Town have dropped their interest in Patrick Roberts.

The Premier League side were strongly linked with a move for the Manchester City winger but yesterday they signed Isaac Mbenza on loan from Montpellier.

Last week Brendan Rodgers admitted that he was keeping tabs on Roberts but with Daniel Arzani expected to compete with James Forrest, Scott Sinclair, Jonny Hayes, Mikey Johnston and Lewis Morgan for wide places it’s unlikely that Roberts will return for a third spell at Celtic.

Having barely featured in City’s pre-season matches it’s clear that the former Fulham teenager has no future at the Etihad.

Roberts originally joined Celtic when Ronny Deila was in charge but his game flourished under Brendan Rodgers during the invincible season.

Last season’s return to Celtic was hampered by a three month lay off due to a recurring hamstring injury although he did finish his loan with another full set of medals.

Roberts has two years left on his City contract and will have to find a loan deal outside of the EPL.
