Brendan Rodgers hasn’t ruled Moussa Dembele out of Celtic’s return leg against AEK Athens.
The striker felt tightness in his hamstring during the second half of the home match against Alashkert and hasn’t been seen since.
Odsonne Edouard has proved to be a very able deputy with Leigh Griffiths appearing as a substitute in the last two matches.
Celtic’s problems are mainly in the centre of defence with Kris Ajer’s suspension adding to the issues but Rodgers hasn’t ruled Dembele out of a role in Greece next week.
“We will see how it goes,” he told the Daily Record. “The medical guys have always felt it was going to be a push. We also have to see how Moussa is feeling himself.
“You can’t put a timeline on these sort of things. He is working very hard out on the training field. We will see how he goes. You always have to weigh up the risk.
“They are going to be close. Kris will miss the game. We will probably have a bit more experience back in the team.”
Dedryck Boyata is likely to start against Hearts tomorrow as Rodgers looks for the central defence to deliver a clean sheet in Athens.
Edouard has looked capable of scoring in every match that he has played but if Celtic are needing a goal with 20 minutes left to play pushing Dembele into action might be a gamble worth taking.
