Tony Ralston and Calvin Miller were a cut above the rest as Celtic opened the ‘new look’ Reserve League with a 3-0 win over Dunfermline at Cappielow.

Much like the first team win over Partock Thistle on Saturday Celtic dominated possession with most of the attacking thrusts coming down the flanks from the full-backs.

Ralston forced Gregor Jordan into an own goal in the 23rd minute while a brilliant run from Miller created Celtic’s second in the 55th minute from Ewan Henderson. Wallace Duffy headed the third in stoppage time.

Celtic dominated possession with almost all of the early chances coming down the right wing through Ralston.

In the seventh minute he tapped the ball past the Pars left-back, raced down the flank then sent in a fierce front post cross that PJ Crossan fired just over from 10 yards out.

Five minutes later his low shot was deflected for a corner before Celtic went in front midway through the first half.

Ralston created space for himself pushing into the penalty box, when he drilled the ball into the six yard box Jordan panicked and sent the ball into his own net.

Dunfermline started the second half brightly but found themselves two goals down after 55 minutes.

Miller showed some great footwork to bamboozle Pars right-back Josh Robertson, from the bye-line he cut the ball back to Henderson who steered the ball across goal into the net from 10 yards out.

It was one way traffic towards the Dunfermline goal with Ralston almost putting Celtic three in front in the 78th minute but his shot came back off the post.

Celtic pushed on at full pelt to the final whistle with Duffy heading home the third goal from a corner, next Monday the young hoops are in action at Hamilton Accies.
