Gerrard puts the boot into Hummel

Steven Gerrard has put the boot into Hummel.

Earlier this week the Danish firm found the prospect of starting to sell Sevco kit further delayed as the club caved in to an injunction from Sports Direct and began negotiating a new contract with Mike Ashley’s firm.

The more that Sevco dig their heels in the longer the delay in Hummel kit hitting the shops, streets, parks and beaches.

Hummel came out on top of nine other firms that were in the bidding to replace Puma but after the excitement of producing a sash design and orange kit they have still to bring in a penny from the deal.

Rubbing salt in their wounds Gerrard published a picture showing off his new Adidas boots to his 7.4m Instagram followers.

Yesterday, in newspaper interviews to preview tonight’s match with Osijek, Gerrard decided to again promote his new boots.

The Daily Record reported: “My playing days are done. I joined in training and kicked a few of the young lads for 20 minutes. I’ve got new boots and when they come in it makes you want to play even more.”

With Turkish market traders cashing in on the demand for new Sevco kit Hummel are losing sales on a daily basis.

It looks like the lucrative summer market will be a total write-off leaving the Danish firm to decide whether to launch an action against Sevco or cut their losses and withdraw from the deal.

It’s believed that no new kit has yet been manufactured.
