Peter Hartley has been forced to apologise after stating that it was fun to watch former Sevco defender Fabio Cardoso weeping during a match last season.

The Portuguese starlet was injured in a clash with Ryan Bowman during Motherwell’s 2-0 Betfred Cup Final defeat at Hampden and took to social media to highlight his broken nose.

Motherwell host the Ger55ard Revolution on Sunday with the Fir Park side putting their captain before the cameras to preview the match.

Looking back at the Hampden clash Hartley said: “I think (Bowman) broke a boy’s nose didn’t he? That was fun to watch, the way he was weeping.”

Motherwell’s media team were quickly on the case but the comments were quickly in the public arena.

Within three hours of the media conference Hartley was back-tracking with a lengthy apology issued.

It’s being reported that the SFA are considering a disrepute charge against Hartley, no action was taken against Sevco for the racist abuse of Scott Sinclair and missiles thrown at Celtic players during the 5-1 win at Ibrox in April 2017.
