Filip Benkovic has quickly won the approval of the Celtic support
The on-loan defender breezed through his debut at St Mirren on Friday night but found himself under greater spotlight in last night’s 1-0 win over Rosenborg.
An injury to Kris Ajer opened the door for Benkovic to play in the centre of the back four with one fan exceptionally impressed by the new look central defensive partnership.
Boyata and Benkovic > Maldini and Baresi

With a £13m price tag there is no prospect of the move from Leicester City being anything other than temporary but on last night’s showing it looks like Celtic may have discovered a formidable partnership for the season ahead.
Benkovic looks a great player , quick, reads the game well and can put in a tackle ….first impressions – reminds me of Joos …

Imagine going back to Leicester after being with Celtic on a European night.

Played great tonight, if he continues like this all season we’ll be much more solid at the back

Boyata will move on at the end of the season when his contract expires leaving Brendan Rodgers to find another defensive pairing for next term but that is a problem for another day.
After the demands of playing in the Europa League Benkovic will discover a very different type of challenge on Sunday when he takes to the plastic of Rugby Park to take on Kilmarnock.
