Sky Sports reporter tells fans to ‘suck it up’ over Betfred Cup scheduling!

Keith Downie of Sky Sports News got involved in an incredible twitter row following the announcement of the Betfred Cup semi-final scheduling, telling Aberdeen fans to ‘suck in up’.

Downie is Sky’s north east of England correspondent mainly covering the goings on at Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Sunderland.

That coverage sometimes stretches north of the border where he has experience of working with STV before landing the plum job with Sky Sports.

With his salary largely funded by the subscriptions of ordinary football fans it isn’t the wisest of moves to ridicule football supporters.

Scottish fans in particular have grown angry over the way that their subscriptions have helped promote the game in England while Scottish football gets the loose change and shoddier presentation.

BT Sport has exclusive rights to the Betfred Cup with Sky getting the similar broadcasting access as STV, Radio Clyde and other non-rights holders.
