Davie Hay has asked the SFA to justify their Allan McGregor interpretation of serious foul play.

Last Sunday in the Glasgow derby two leading match officials failed to spot the Sevco keeper kicking out at Kris Ajer although the incident was noted by thousands of Celtic fans and caught by the cameras from Sky Sports.

It seemed the perfect case for the SFA to administer retrospective punishment although missing a home match against Dundee hardly compares with a red card against Celtic or having a penalty awarded to the hoops.

Already this season the SFA have come up with a number of baffling disciplinary decisions with the decision to let McGregor off adding to that list.

It appears that players have free reign to strike out at opponents with Hay wondering if it will require a broken leg to push the SFA into finally taking action.

In the Evening Times he asked: “I don’t think anyone can deny that Allan McGregor deserved to be sent off for his kick out at Kristoffer Ajer.

“It was a show of petulance, and while there wasn’t much malice in it, there was still clear grounds for a red card.

“After finding no case to answer from this incident and overturning the Alfredo Morelos red card for his kick out at Scott McKenna, the SFA are setting a dangerous precedent. Is it going to take a broken leg to merit a red card now?

“If the SFA could come out and explain how they arrived at these decisions it would be welcome, but I’m not holding my breath.”

McGregor was in the Scotland squad that faced Belgium last night and is expected to start Monday’s match against Albania.
