Marvin Compper has been left out of Celtic’s Europa League squad.

Twenty-five players are registered with UEFA, plus any number of home developed players such as Kieran Tierney, Callum McGregor, James Forrest and Mikey Johnston but there is no place for the former RB Leipzig.

Compper was signed for a fee reported at £1m in January and was expected to add experience and steel to the Celtic defence.

An injury picked up during the winter training camp in Dubai delayed his debut with his Celtic career turning into something of a mystery on the back of that injury.

He did make an appearance against Morton in the Scottish Cup but was substituted after 82 minutes and has yet to make another competitive appearance.

The 33-year-old is under contract until June 2019 with some speculation recently that a pay off was being discussed.

Scott Allan and Daniel Arzani are also missing from the list with Celtic’s first match coming on September 20 when they host Rosenborg, Celtic face RB Leipzig on matchday’s three and four.
