Former England boss to take charge of Anthony Stokes

Anthony Stokes is in line to team up with Sven-Goran Eriksson at Iranian side Tractor Sazi!

The former Celtic and Hibs striker made the surprise move in August but has outlasted John Toshack who was sacked as manager following a cup defeat.

Stokes has scored three goals in six appearances with many critics doubting how long he would last in the Iranian league.

Twelve months ago Stokes was scoring for fun under Neil Lennon at Hibs but an incident during the winter break in Portugal proved too much for the relationship with the striker leaving by mutual consent.

After a brief goal-less spell in Greece with Apollon Smiris Stokes trained with St Mirren in pre-season but opted to take up a lucrative offer from Iran rather than Paisley.

According to a report in The Sun the owners of Tractor want to bring in 70 year old Erikson as their new boss with the former England manager’s last job being a year ago in China with Shenzhen FC.
