Callum McIvor has made a touching thank you to Jonny Hayes after the Celtic winger stepped in to halt an attack on the 11-year-old.

The incident happened as Hayes popped into the Co-Op in Lennoxtown after training.

It would have been easy for Hayes to turn to social media to boast about his good deed but the Irishman took a low key approach to the incident.

After McIvor sent him a thank you note he was surprised to get a letter back that included a signed jersey from the Celtic winger.

At that stage the school boy went public with what had happened, highlighting the danger of bullying at school.

Social media has been swamped with reaction to the story with Hayes not wanting to highlight his own actions.

The former Aberdeen winger has struggled to break into the Celtic side but his reaction to the bullying incident he witnessed after training have brought him widespread praise.
