Peter Lawwell has highlighted Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele as the next two kids to make the big breakthrough.

Johnston has been on the fringes of the first team this season while 15-year-old Dembele is being watched closely by every big club in Europe.

Kieran Tierney, Callum McGregor and James Forrest have made the transition from youth team to Champions League- setting the standard for others throughout the club Academy.

Despite being able to spend a club record transfer fee on Odsonne Edouard developing home grown players is essential for Celtic’s future success with Lawwell confident that there at least two more top talents in the pipeline.

Our long term strategy enables us to continue to invest in player retention, player recruitment, stadium infrastructure and everything that is needed to develop the Club for future generations and to continue to deliver success. We have an excellent first team squad and in the Youth Academy we have the next generation of exciting young players such as Mikey Johnston, Karamoko Dembele and many others, all of whom are eager to follow in the footsteps of Kieran Tierney, James Forrest and Callum McGregor in becoming Champions League players for Celtic Football Club.

Celtic’s accounts for the year to 30 June 2018 revealed turnover of £101.6m producing a profit of £17.3m.

That figure included the sell-on fee from Virgil van Dijk as well as the payouts for reaching the group phase of the Champions League and the last 32 of the Europa League.
