RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg have denied that they’ll be working in collusion during their Europa League group which also involves Celtic and Rosenborg.

Last summer UEFA investigated the relationship between the two clubs who enjoy massive sponsorship from Red Bull.

New Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita was transferred for 24m € in the summer of 2016 and was joined by Dayot Upamecano, Bernardo and Benno Schmitzswitching across the Austraian/German border.

After promotion from Bundesliga 2 the German leg of the Red Bull operation finished in second place but after a UEFA enquiry both clubs were cleared to take part in the Champions League despite a very clear overlap and conflict of interest with Leipzig suddenly the main focus of the sponsorship.

Dismissing any possible dirty tricks Red Bull chief executive Dietrich Mateschitz told The Sun: “May the better team win. I am totally happy about this draw.

It’s a super draw for both teams. It will be good for sports and entertainment. It’s great story for everyone in our family and it will be interesting and fun.”

Oliver Mintzlaff of the German side said: “The very idea of collusion between two clubs is not compatible with our values.

We’re in sport and fair play applies. It’s very important people know this.

This summer we have been approved by UEFA again without conditions.”

Celtic kick off their campaign at home to Rosenborg on September 20 followed by trips to Salzburg on October 4 and Leipzig on October 25.
