Brendan Rodgers will ensure that Celtic play a more direct game at Kilmarnock today.
In February the hoops lost at Rugby Park to a goal from Youssouf Mulumba but while the possibility has been eliminated the surface remains the same.
Charly Musonda made the first of his two SPFL starts in that defeat, making little impact with the bobbly surface cancelling out his close control.
First half injuries, due to the surface, to Kris Ajer and Dedryck Boyata upset Celtic’s plans as Killie defended in depth and took their chances when they appeared.
The injuries and just a second domestic defeat in 18 months upset Rodgers but THAT surface was the main issue when he spoke after the game.
“I have to defend the players as well, it is a horrendous surface to play on,” the Irishman told The Sun.
“I’ve said that even when we have won there and on the other surfaces.
“It is one of those things that can happen. We had it in Gibraltar on an astroturf which was arguably better than the one at Kilmarnock and we lost there.”
There are no mysteries about the surface that Celtic play on today, when Hearts decided not to cut the grass last season at Tynecastle Celtic played more direct and won 3-1.
Something similar today will be very welcome- but not at Tynecastle.
