Brendan Rodgers has had a sit down meeting with Dermot Desmond and Peter Lawwell this week.

Since the start of the season there has been speculation that the relationship between the three men pivotal to Celtic’s fortunes was, at best, strained.

The difficulties of the transfer market were put in the spotlight during the week of the first leg tie against AEK Athens during which it seemed open season to publish and broadcast almost anything about the club.

Commenting on an approach for Rodgers from China the well connected Stephen McGowan of the Daily Mail reports:

Confirming a formal approach from the unnamed club at the end of last season, Sportsmail understands the Parkhead boss held talks with major shareholder Dermot Desmond and chief executive Peter Lawwell earlier this week.

Odsonne Edouard was the only major signing brought in for the Champions League qualifiers with Filip Benkovic and Youssouf Mulumba arriving on the final day of the transfer window.

It appeared that any problems on the pitch were cleared up by the 1-0 win over Sevco at the start of September but five points dropped away to St Mirren and Kilmarnock has resulted in the hoops dropping to sixth place in the SPFL.
