The SFA has been shamed into silence.

Bigger questions such as the UEFA licence issued to Rangers (IL) in 2011 and the Five Way Agreement of 2012 are clearly not for discussion but even answering some basic questions is now out of bounds under Ian Maxwell.

The new Chief Executive at Hampden made an error strewn media appearance when he had to present the official reaction to a report into the SFA’s dealing with historical issues of child abuse in the Scottish game.

After one victim of 1979 Scottish Cup Final linesman Hugh Stevenson came forward a flustered Maxwell came out with a laboured apology.

The opening weeks of the season have been a complete disaster in terms of disciplinary issues, so much so that two clubs in the ‘lets move along for the good of the game’ camp have been forced into making statements that can only land them in more bother at Hampden.

Clearly there is a deep rooted culture within Hampden that they know what is best for the peasants that fund their committees and junkets, answering straight forward questions is clearly outwith their remit.

SFA apologist Darryl Broadfoot is likely to be on Radio Scotland’s Sportsound programme tonight deflecting attention away from his pay-masters.
