David Bates has accused Graeme Murty of lying about his departure from Sevco.
The defender left for Hamburg during the close season after his Ibrox contract expired.
Bates was left on the outside looking in as the Pedro Caixinha Revolution kicked off but was drafted into the team once Murty took charge.
Having signed a two year contract after signing from Raith Rovers young Bates was the lowest paid player in the first team squad with no real effort made to put him on a new contract.
Danny Wilson suffered a similar fate when he left for Colorado Rapids with Bates not holding back when he revealed the circumstances behind his Ibrox departure.
“It was a hard decision to leave Rangers,” he told the Daily Record. “When I was there I asked for a contract for a long time and never got one.
“Eventually they got talking but I had options to go to places like Hamburg.
“I don’t want to say too much about how I left but in my opinion what was said was complete lies. It was never about the money or stuff like that.

“It was about feeling appreciation from a club. Like the way Hamburg went about it.
“They came to watch my games, they were always talking to me and showed just how much they wanted me to go there.
“The way they went about it was so much better than everyone else. It felt like the love I was wanting – and it was always going to be the right decision.”
Bates announced that he had signed a four year contract with Hamburg two days before Celtic hammered Sevco 4-0 in the semi final of the Scottish Cup.
At the end of last season Hamburg were relegated to Bundesliga 2.
