The SPFL has taken the unprecedented action of taking tickets back from Aberdeen for their Betfred Cup semi-final with Sevco!

Since the draw was made and the game initially given a 12.30pm kick off it seems that everything has been stacked against Aberdeen.

While Hearts and Celtic were given a 50-50 split of tickets for Murrayfield that arrangement was binned for the Hampden clash where Sevco were given the whole of the North Stand.

Dons supporters were slow to buy tickets for the inferior East Stand and are now going to be relocated into the South Stand to accommodate even more Sevco supporters.

Today Aberdeen announced:

With just over a week to go until our Betfred Cup Semi-Final against Rangers at Hampden Park just over 9,000 tickets have been sold to The Red Army. Despite strong initial sales, particularly from our supporters’ clubs, overall ticket sales for the match have fallen short of the demand expected.

Given current sales figures, with the SPFL recording less than 100 being sold by Aberdeen FC today, the SPFL have now taken back certain sections of the East Stand. In return, the SPFL will issue the Club with an additional allocation of seats in the South Stand Upper and Lower tickets. This will necessitate the relocation of some supporters to alternative seats and the Club will be in touch with any affected fans to finalise arrangements.

South Stand tickets are priced at £30 which is £5 dearer than the tickets fans have purchased for the East Stand.

It’s likely that a number of fans will decline the forced ticket swop further reducing the number of Dons supporters at Hampden.
