Paddy McCourt has finally joined twitter.

Since the early days of the social network there has been a number of parody accounts but following his Open Goal interview with Si Ferry the Celtic favourite has signed up- officially. Within a day he had attracted over 5,000 followers.

The winger joined Celtic in 2008 from Derry City but freely admits that his fitness was nowhere near good enough to make the breakthrough.

During the 2009/10 season he scored incredible solo goals against Falkirk and St Mirren that earned him the nickname of the Derry Pele.

McCourt weaved his magic for five seasons at Celtic scoring 10 goals and leaving behind hundreds of memories.

After leaving Celtic he had stints in England with Barnsley, Brighton and Luton before returning to Ireland where he is winding down with Finn Harps.

The 34-year-old has recently taken up a key role with the Derry City Academy passing on his knowledge and experience to a new generation of budding players.
