Nadir Ciftci has hit the goal trail helping Genclerbirligi to top spot in 1. Lig, Turkey’s second tier with three goals in nine appearances.

During the summer the former Dundee United striker agreed to terminate the remaining year on his Celtic contract after failing to make any impact on Brendan Rodgers plans.

Ciftci was signed by Ronny Deila in the summer of 2015 but after arriving with a six match domestic suspension he found himself shipped out on loan to Eskisehirspor in the January 2016 transfer window.

Under Rodgers he was sent out on loan to Pogon Szczecin, Plymouth and Motherwell with his only goals coming at the end of last season for the Lanarkshire side.

Moving to the Turkish second division looked to be another step downwards in his career but after nine matches they are two points clear at the top of the tale.

Ciftci scored three goals in his first six league appearances and also netted in the 2-0 Turkish Cup win over Bergama Belediye.

At the age of 26 Genclerbirligi are the 10th club in Ciftci’s career, if he can continue to score goals he might just hang around a little longer than usual.
