Scotland fans turned on Alex McLeish after watching the 2-1 defeat from Israel.

It was a disastrous night for the Scotland boss who was suffering his fifth defeat in seven matches since taking over from Gordon Strachan.

A 2-0 win at home to Albania raised expectations that Scotland could progress from their Nations League group with tonight’s opponents rated 94 in the FIFA rankings.

Scared to decide between Kieran Tierney and Andy Robertson McLeish picked both men out of position with Israel taking full advantage of the gaps behind the Scotland wing-backs.

Charlie Mulgrew’s first half penalty gave Scotland false hope but after the break Israel dominated and were well worth their victory.

Having discarded Leigh Griffiths, McLeish got next to nothing out of Steven Naismith and Jonny Russell who were both substituted long before the end.

Next up for the Tartan Army is a trip to Albania next month with the focus on the Scotland manager and his decision to demote Leigh Griffiths.

On Sunday Israel host Albania.
