Dedryck Boyata may have had his problems with Celtic this year but that didn’t prevent him for turning up on international duty with a carrier bag full of kit from the Celtic Shop.

Since returning to favour in the 1-0 win over Hamilton Accies the 27-year-old has been the club’s most reliable defender.

Contract disputes have been put on the back burner with the player realising that putting in commanding performances for Celtic is the best way to earn a lucrative move next summer- when his contract expires.

Brendan Rodgers has had no qualms about selecting Boyata who made his international breakthrough in the summer with three appearances at the World Cup Finals.

The Celtic defender was in the Belgian side that beat Scotland 4-0 at Hampden last month and is in contention for a place against Switzerland on Friday night in a Nations League qualifier.

One familiar face for Boyata in the Belgian set up is Shaun Maloney with the former Celtic coach now a full time member of Roberto Martinez’s back-room staff.
