A real life football hero last night joined the Scottish Football Hall of Fame.
The SFA perhaps copped some undeserved flack over the Paul Gascoigne row when the HoF appears to be an offshoot of the Hampden museum.
Gascoigne’s nomination seemed to trigger debate about who isn’t in the HoF with some very notable names absent.
Last night one of those omissions was corrected.
The schoolboy who played in the old Eastern Europe, someone who gave Celtic 13 years service without ever being injured! Picking up every trophy in the Scottish game and being at the heart of the most memorable games for a generation.

In 79 he scored and put in a heroic display in the 4-2 match.
In 85 he was the inspiration behind the Centenary Scottish Cup win.
In 86 he was at Love Street playing a role in perhaps the greatest team goal ever scored.
In 88 he was the the captain of Celtic’s double winners.

For good measure he picked up 57 full international caps, numerous under-age caps, assisted Alex EBT McLeish with the international team and until the 2014 League Cup win was the last Aberdeen manager to take a trophy to Pittodrie.
It’s taken a while but finally Roy Aitken is in the Hall of Fame, perhaps Davie Hay, Neilly Mochan, Sean Fallon, Neil Lennon or Scott Brown will be inducted next year?
