Willie Collum will referee Celtic’s Betfred Cup semi-final against Hearts at Murrayfield.

The Lanarkshire based referee is rated as Scotland’s number one referee but has been involved in a number of controversies this season.

In August Kilmarnock were shocked by the red card that Collum issued to Gary Dicker but not surprised when their appeal was rejected after Collum was appointed to take charge of the first Celtic v Sevco match.

In the derby match he failed to see Allan McGregor kick out at Kris Ajer while Scott Brown was booked for an outrageous dive from Kyle Lafferty.

Steven Gerrard was upset by Celtic’s goal in that match claiming that Ryan Jack had been fouled 80 yards from goal.

The Sevco boss claimed that fourth official John Beaton had shouted ‘foul, foul, foul’ at the incident, Beaton will referee Sevco’s semi-final against Aberdeen. Extreme right-wing Tory MP Douglas Ross will be one of Beaton’s assistants.
