Henrik Larsson has revealed that stopping 10-in-a-row is his favourite Celtic memory.

The Swede left millions of memories for Celtic supporters during his seven year stint at the club which saw him score 242 goals before moving on to Barcelona.

In the summer of 1997 he had to go through a Dutch court to get his release from Feyenoord to join Celtic where he arrived as a low key dread-locked £650,000 signing.

Across the city Walter Smith was shelling out £4m a time to sign up the best stars of Serie A in the final push to overtake Celtic with a tenth title.

At the end of the dramatic 97/98 season Smith and Wim Jansen both left their clubs but as time goes on Larsson realises the enormity of the first of four title winning medals he picked up at Celtic.

In an interview with 442 magazine he was asked: What is your favourite memory from your time at Celtic?

There are so many. The day that we stopped Rangers winning 10 titles in a row, the day that we secured the Treble and the day we reached the UEFA Cup final. I’ve probably missed about 50 others. I didn’t know much about Celtic when I arrived; about seven of us joined at the same time and we didn’t really understand the pressure.

We came into a situation where we had to stop Rangers from winning 10 straight titles – they’d have been the first team to do it. We didn’t understand all of that, which was why we managed to keep our heads. If we’d been there longer and known we had to stop Rangers from winning 10 in a row, it would have been much more difficult.

Celtic clinched the 97/98 title on the final day of the season thanks to a 2-0 win over St Johnstone.

He went on to win a treble, reach the final of the UEFA Cup and pick up the 2001 Golden Boot but stopping the ten remains his fondest Celtic memory.
