The SPFL are facing another fixture nightmare if Celtic LOSE to Hearts in the semi-final of the Betfred Cup.

With the final scheduled for Hampden on Sunday December 2 that will clash with Celtic’s rescheduled SPFL Premiership clash with St Johnstone on the same day.

If Hearts lose to Celtic they are scheduled to host Sevco at Tynecastle which will go ahead if Aberdeen beat Steven Gerrard’s side out at the semi-final stage,

After the events of the last week it seems clear that Police Scotland won’t be able to manage two events with 50,000 crowds taking place less than three miles apart.

The whole scenario could have been avoided had the SPFL scheduled the Betfred Cup dates away from the weekend following Europa League dates.

When Celtic and Sevco reached the semi-finals, after winning two matches, neither was able to play on the Saturday scheduled for the semi-finals.

After initially deciding to host both matches at Hampden, yesterday, six days after the initial decision, the SPFL announced that the Hearts v Celtic match was to be played at Tynecastle.
