New embarrassment for SFA

Despite their sponsorship deal with Vauxhall ending in the summer the Scotland national team in still endorsing the car manufacturer.

The embarrassing situation has been highlighted by Fans Without Scarves as the SFA look for a new sponsor of their international team.

See I remember that Vauxhall had announced it was terminating its sponsorship of all the home nations effective from the end of the World Cup. Yet here we were prancing around doing jumping jacks in Vauxhall kits.

Throughout the recent international double header the Scotland players and staff were pictured off the pitch wearing Vauxhall kit.

Incoming chief executive Ian Maxwell inherited a bleak commercial set up with the Scottish Cup without a sponsorship or television deal.

The Vauxhall kit deal is on a par with the problems that Sevco have suffered this season as they struggle to comply with regulations over their new Hummel kit.

Against Osijek in the Europa League qualifiers they played in an unbranded red training kit despite ‘releasing’ a traditional kit, a blue away kit and orange kit at the start of July.

In the Europa League tie against Villarreal Ryan Kent wore a different strip to his team-mates with the diagonal stripes running through the Red 32 sponsors logo, in domestic matches the stripes are broken to highlight the sponsor.
