Celtic are awaiting the results of a scan on Scott Brown’s leg injury.

The midfielder was replaced after 20 minutes of the 4-2 win over Hibs after missing out on the two previous matches against RB Salzburg and St Johnstone.

It looks unlikely that Brown will lead Celtic into Thursday’s Europa League tie against RB Leipzig with Brendan Rodgers sounding concerned about the injury.

The Celtic boss said: “We’re just awaiting the scan results from today”

There a problem just below his knee at the top of his calf. We just have to wait and see on that.

It had nothing to do with his age, it was an injury that was very sore and painful for him and even then at the time he didn’t want to come off.

You could see at the time he was struggling with mobility and ability

It was a real sore one for him but like I say, we’ll just have to wait for the scan to come through.”

Celtic fly out to Germany tomorrow but it looks more likely that Brown will be targetting Sunday’s Betfred Cup semi-final against Hearts for a return to action.

Callum McGregor and Eboue Kouassi both played in central midfield in the win over Hibs while Youssuf Mulumba made a big impression in the Europa League tie away to RB Salzburg.

Celtic’s other injury concern is over Leigh Griffiths who suffered an Achilles knock while training last week.
