Sam Allardyce has turned on one of Brendan Rodgers’ media critics accusing him of trying to make a name for himself.
Dave Kitson, the former Reading striker, was covering the game for TalkSPORT as Celtic lost 2-0 away to RB Leipzig.
While the result and performance was disappointing, sadly predictably so, it did provide the launchpad for the usual criticism of Rodgers.
It seems that finding a high profile British manager operating outside of the EPL is too difficult a concept for many to understand.
As they lay into Celtic the underlying message is that Rodgers should leave the northern backwater to ply his trade with deadwood clubs like Newcastle, West Ham or Leicester City.

Discussing Kitson’s reaction to Celtic’s defeat in Leipzig Allardyce told TalkSPORT: “That’s totally and utterly embarrassing his criticism, maybe he is trying to make a name for himself.”
Eddie Howe is the highest placed British manager in the EPL with Bournemouth sitting in sixth place, Brighton’s Chris Hughton in 12th place is the next highest placed of the six managers from the British Isles operating in the top flight.
