TEAM NEWS: Benkovic misses out in Leipzig

Filip Benkovic is out of the Celtic side to play RB Leipzig tonight.

The on loan Leicester City defender has been named as a substitute with Jozo Smunovic coming in to take his place in central defence.

Benkovic put in impressive performances against St Johnstone and Hibs but sits out tonight’s match alongside Scott Brown, Leigh Griffiths, Tom Rogic, James Forrest and Mikael Lustig.

Lewis Morgan comes in to start his first competitive match as a Celtic player with Ryan Christie and Eboue Kouassi also making the starting XI.

With Salzburg taking maximum points from their opening match going head to head with Rosenborg over the next two match-days it looks increasingly like Celtic and RB Leipzig are playing for second place.

Being drawn alongside the champions of Austria and Norway plus a leading German club is clearly a major challenge for Celtic to remain in Europe beyond Christmas.

CELTIC: Gordon; Gamboa, Boyata, Simonovic, Tierney; Ntcham, Kouassi; Morgan, Christie, McGregor; Edouard

SUBS: Bain, Hendry, Izaguirre, Sinclair, Hayes, Lustig, Benkovic
