Celtic’s reserve side hit the goal trail for the second week running as they hammered Queen of the South 4-0.

Last week Partick Thistle were on the wrong end of a 6-0 hammering in the Glasgow Cup with Tommy McIntyre’s side picking up where they left off at Lennoxtown this afternoon.

It only took the hoops 17 minutes to open the scoring with Ciaran Diver heading home after good work down the right between Lewis Bell and Grant Savoury.

Two minutes later Jack Aitchison doubled Celtic’s lead with a solo effort.

It was all Celtic throughout the first half with Queen’s unable to cope with the threat from the two goalscorers with Diver striking woodwork just before the half hour.

Aitchison turned provider in the 47th minute when he set up the third goal for Savoury with Kerr McInroy on target with a thunderbolt effort 11 minutes later.

CELTIC: Hazard: Bell, Welsh, Duffy, Church; Savoury, McInroy, Robertson, Coffey; Aitchison, Diver

SUBS: Mullen, Patterson, Kennedy, McBride, McLaughlin
