Barry Ferguson launched a foul mouthed rant at the SFA during a Q and A night in the company of Ibrox captain James Tavernier.

It seems that the former Rangers (IL) midfielder was upset over the closing stages of the 2007/08 season when the Ibrox side lost out on the UEFA Cup and SPL title despite the league season being extended to finish on a Thursday night.

The other top five clubs in the league plus St Mirren had their season extended to help Walter Smith’s bus parkers as they took on Zenit St Petersburg.

There had been suggestions of postponing the Scottish Cup Final with Queen of the South into June to assist the Ibrox men who had called off a match with Gretna to enjoy ten days preparations to face Lyon at home. The French side won 3-0 at Ibrox.

Mythology has taken it’s toll down the years with many Ibrox supporters believing that their side should have been given even more help in their quadruple trophy bid.

According to The Sun:

Taking the microphone from ex-Gers team-mate Lee McCulloch, he said: “Can I just say one thing?

F*** the SFA! I tell you one thing, they never helped us.”

The 40-year-old ranted as he returned to the Bothwell Bridge Hotel – the scene of an infamous post-Old Firm game scrap involving Fergie, his mates and a group of Celtic fans in 2000.

As pal Lee prepared to continue his story about the Uefa Cup run, Fergie added: “I hate they b***ards!”

Ferguson was one of a number of ineligible Rangers (IL) players in the 2008 side with a large portion of his wages not declared to the SFA or SPL.

The 40-year-old was banned from international football in 2009 after the infamous Bevvygate incident with current Scotland keeper Allan McGregor.
