Sevco’s off field problems have intensified with Hummel withdrawing stock of all kit.

Yesterday at the High Court Sports Direct raised an action against the club for selling merchandise that should have been offered to the firm owned by Mike Ashley.

In July Sports Direct were forced to go to the High Court to prevent Sevco from setting up a merchandise and retail deal with a third party which was in breach of the contract set up by Dave King with the sportswear giant.

It was expected that an out of court agreement would be reached but without any advance notice last month Sevco started selling their Hummel branded goods.

Hummel have now stopped selling ‘Rangers’ kit with no firm wanting to fall foul of the law of the land as well as Mike Ashley.

A fully functioning merchandise operation could generate around £3m a year profit for Sevco but since King took charge in 2015 any profits have been swallowed up by legal fees due to disputes with Sports Direct.

On the park there has been a number of mistakes with a red training kit used in one Europa League tie while there were a number of flaws in the kit worn against Villarreal with Ryan Kent wearing a different top to his team mates.

King also faces a charge of Contempt of Court next month due to his refusal to offer shareholders outwith his concert party 20p for each share that they hold in the troubled company.
