James Forrest was the Scotland hero as the Tartan Army celebrated a surprise 4-0 win in Albania.

The Celtic winger was in devastating form as e enjoyed his first two international goals as Scotland turned in their best performance of the year.

With club team-mates Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor joining him in midfield- plus former Celt Stuart Armstrong- there was a familiar look to the midfield play that left Albania chasing shadows.

The victory kept alive Scotland’s hopes of qualifying for the next stage of the Nations League with a win on Tuesday over Israel at Hampden required to progress.

Scotland took the lead in the 14th minute through Ryan Fraser then doubled their advantage right on half time through a Steven Fletcher penalty after an Albanian was judged to have handled a Stuart Armstrong free-kick.

Any hope that the ten man Albanian’s had of salvaging something from the match died in the 55th minute when Forrest scored his first international goal- 12 minutes later he scored a spectacular goal that won’t be forgotten.
