Barry Coffey was on target for Ireland’s u-18 side in their 2-1 win over Belgium.
Although it isn’t an established UEFA tournament any win over Belgium is to be enjoyed with their well established youth system funneling players into Roberto Martinez’s side.
Coffey is captaining the Irish side at the four team event and faces another tough test on Sunday when Jim Crawford’s side take on England.

While Coffey is enjoying the Spanish sunshine six of his Celtic team-mates are experiencing lower temperatures with the Scotland u-19 side in Wales.
Billy Stark chose all six Celtic players- Ryan Mullen, Robbie Deas, Stephen Welsh, Daniel Church, Kerr McInroy and Jack Aitchison- for the 2-1 win over Wales on Wednesday.
Tomorrow Scotland are back in action at the Belle Vue Arena in Rhyl where San Marino provide the opposition with Stark’s side looking to run up their goal difference.
