Celtic midfielder ruled out for the rest of the season

Eboue Kouassi is out for the rest of the season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury against Hearts in the semi final of the Betfred Cup.

The midfielder came in for his third start of the season at Murrayfield and appeared to overstretch to win a ball around 15 minutes into the game.

Kouassi played on and suffered an unwanted attack from Steven MacLean before being replaced by Scott Sinclair.

The absence of the 20-year-old for the remainder of the season won’t have much of an impact on Celtic’s first choice XI but it does leave Brendan Rodgers short on cover.

Scott Brown and Olivier Ntcham both missed the 5-0 win over Dundee due to injury leaving Callum McGregor to play central midfield alongside Tom Rogic.

Youssouf Mulumbu is back in contention for a place but Nir Bitton hasn’t played a competitive match since February.
