Brendan Rodgers is hoping to have Leigh Griffiths available for the match against Rosenborg on November 29.

The striker hasn’t played since the 6-0 win over St Johnstone on October 7 but according to a report in The Express he has resumed full training at Lennoxtown.

Odsonne Edouard has been the sole striker available to Rodgers with the return of Griffiths a welcome boost ahead of the vital European tie and the gruelling schedule of nine matches in December.

Express Sport can now reveal the former Hibs and Wolves striker is back in training and looking to build his fitness up over the next week.

Celtic return against Hamilton after the international break, although he might not be risked in that game.

Rodgers will want to make sure he is 100 per cent as the Hoops have a vital Europa League clash at Rosenborg and the Betfred Cup Final against Aberdeen after that.

Griffiths has suffered from calf injuries throughout this year but did have a spell of scoring three goals in three matches in his most recent run of games.

One of those was a late winner at home to Rosenborg with a repeat of that away to the Norwegians at the end of the month setting up a showdown in the final fixture at home to RB Salzburg.

Speaking after the 0-0 draw at Livingston Rodgers was hopeful of having Scott Brown and Olivier Ntcham available to face Hamilton a week on Saturday but was less specific on when Griffiths would be ready to return.
