Private Christie: A Star is Born

What a fortnight it’s been for Ryan Christie.

Two weeks ago he was part of a dispirited Celtic side that had suffered another away day defeat in Europe, this time to RB Leipzig.

Christie had shown some decent touches but like most of his team-mates he was on the fringes of the match as the German side dominated.

By the time Celtic returned to domestic duty Christie was back on the bench for the Betfred Cup semi-final against Hearts at Murrayfield.

At half-time in that match it’s no exaggeration to say that his career turned around.

Winning a penalty, a heavy assist and scoring a brilliant goal put down a marker on an 11 day spell that he won’t forget.

Tonight he set up the winning goal to cap off an impressive performance against RB Leipzig, in-between times he netted against Dundee and Hearts.

With a new contract about to be signed it’s fair to say that A (Celtic) Star Is Born.
