Brendan Rodgers has hit out at the rough-house treatment handed out to Lewis Morgan.
Peter Haring was the culprit with a crude 87th minute foul on the Celtic substitute which John Beaton decided was only worth a yellow card.
“I understand if you’re losing 5-0 and you’ve anything about you there’s a bit of pride there,” the Celtic boss told The Sun.
“But Haring’s tackle on Morgan had a wee bit more force than their needed to be.
“I can understand a tactical foul when Lewis is breaking away but I don’t think you need that force.
“But we coped well with Hearts’ physicality today. We stood up to it and our football was exceptional.
“Lewis got a sore one, he took a whack on his ankle and he’ll need some ice on it.”
Beaton booked three Hearts players with two of those cautions coming in the last five minutes
In February during a 0-0 draw between Celtic and St Johnstone Beaton booked four Saints players with two of those cautions coming in stoppage time.
Earlier this season when Hearts beat Celtic 1-0 at Tynecastle he took no action against Steven Naismith for twice kicking out at Jonny Hayes, in September’s Betfred Cup tie between St Johnstone and Celtic Dedryck Boyata was given a straight red card for dissent.
Beaton has been in charge of three Hearts matches this season, two against Celtic and in their 3-1 defeat from Sevco at Ibrox.
